Its better to use a fast boat from Bali, 1-2 hours depending on the sea condition.

(You will need more than one night, i guess..) There are so many good resorts and diving tour in Gili Trawangan. Resorts are almost available in every single part of beach around the island. Just try to Google it, i can't give you any reference cos all of them are nice.
